Bamiyan Buddhas, Afghanistan: Information on the Work of ICOMOS Germany

After the discussions of the 12th Bamiyan Expert Working Group Meeting (Orvieto, 10-11 December 2013) and in view of several enquiries from ICOMOS members, ICOMOS Germany presents its report of January 24, 2014 concerning the reinforcement measures in the lower gallery of the Eastern Buddha niche. This includes plans and a comprehensive picture documentation (see part 1 and part 2).

ICOMOS Germany wishes to emphasise that the measures carried out to safeguard and stabilise the fragments of the Eastern Buddha niche have been done in agreement with the Afghan authorities and representatives of UNESCO.
