29 October 2018, Strasbourg -- Dr. Jerzy Ilkosz receives German Prize for Monument Protection 2018

At the suggestion of the Federal Institute for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe (BKGE) and at the request of the German National Committee of ICOMOS, the "German Prize for Monument Protection 2018 – Karl-Friedrich-Schinkel-Ring" will be awarded to our ICOMOS colleague Dr. Jerzy Ilkosz (Wroclaw, Poland).

With this award, the German National Committee for Monument Protection honours the prize-winner for his "decades of honorary commitment to transnational cooperation in the research, mediation and preservation of the common cultural heritage of Germans and Poles. As a highly esteemed, internationally outstanding scientist and mediator, he knows how to build cultural bridges and, through exhibitions and publications, bring modern architecture in Silesia closer to a broad public across borders. He always seeks the dialogue between politics, investors, experts and the public with a high level of expertise and makes a major contribution to understanding between Poles and Germans".

The award ceremony will be taking place on 29 October 2018 in Strasbourg (France) on the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH), the motto of which is "Sharing Heritage".
